Praying at Home with The Book of Common Prayer

The Book of Common Prayer is a treasure chest full of devotional and teaching resources for individuals and congregations, and is the practical symbol of our unity in faith and practice as Episcopalians and Anglicans. The prayer book, most recently revised in 1979, contains our liturgies, our prayers, our theological documents, and much, much more. BCP Online provides the full text of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer as a free online resource.

Forward Movement offers online resources from The Book of Common Prayer for praying the Daily Office (Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Compline), Daily Devotions, and Daily Readings from Scripture. Pray the services individually or with your household, or listen and pray along with the Forward Movement Morning Office podcast, updated daily.

Additionally, Forward provides daily reflections and meditations based on the Daily Office Lectionary readings.

Take a journey through The Book of Common Prayer on "The BCP and Me" Podcast with friends of St. Luke's, Fr. Joshua Nelson and Fr. Tyler Richards.

"The BCP and Me" seeks to introduce and reacquaint people to The Book of Common Prayer, its liturgies, and its underlying theology.  It seeks to teach others how to use it as a manual for living a life connected to God and God's people.

"The BCP and Me" now spans across three seasons of Podcasts and has explored a major portion of the prayer book.  The podcast can serve as a tool for forming new Christians, or for providing Christian Education for those Christians who are looking for a way to deepen their faith.

Check out "Prayer Book Grammar" with Dr. Nathan Napier from our Episcopal Essentials class on our Faithful Echoes podcast, as he guides us through navigating The Book of Common Prayer and praying the Daily Office.
