WHAT ARE SERVICES LIKE?

At St. Luke's, we worship using liturgies from the Book of Common Prayer. These services usually consist of readings from the Old and New Testaments, communal prayers for ourselves and others, a sermon or homily, and a celebration of Holy Communion. Bulletins with the order of worship printed out are provided. If you ever feel like you don't know what to do next, just imitate the people around you and over time you'll begin to get a feel for the rhythms and habits of our services.

CAN I RECEIVE COMMUNION?

We welcome all baptized Christians to the altar for Communion, regardless of denominational identity. We reserve the Eucharist for baptized Christians not to exclude anyone, but because we believe that Baptism is the way people are made a part of Christ's Body, the Church. Holy Eucharist is the sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving that the Church offers to God, and the means by which the Church is knitted together into one body. If you have any questions about Baptism or Communion, Fr. Joel or another member of the church staff would be more than happy to have a conversation with you.

WHERE CAN I PARK?

We have spaces for parking on the church's property, and additional parking is available on the streets surrounding the church. Please refrain from parking in the First Presbyterian parking lot next door to us.

ARE CHILDREN WELCOME IN THE SERVICE?

We joyfully welcome families with children at all of our services. We know that kids tend to giggle and squirm, and we welcome the life and joy that they bring to our prayer and worship. Children often bring the most insightful questions about God and faith, and we would love the chance to chat with them about whatever they're curious about.

WHAT DO I WEAR?

Come in whatever makes you feel most comfortable. Some of our members like to dress up, and some prefer to dress more casually. The choice is entirely up to you and what you feel most comfortable worshipping in.
